A little about myself

I am Miriel Lynn Smith, the only child of parents Richard and Linda Williams. I currently live in Grand Rapids, Mi where I chose to stay and live after I graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in May 2002.

Prior to Grand Rapids I lived in Kingsford, Mi where I spent my high school years involved in an art organization created by local art teachers and key leaders in the community. The organization is called The Association of Student Artists, (ASA). The organization helped me to become more involved in art and in the community. It also helped me to see and define myself as an artist.

Art has always been a significant part of my life. When I was fourteen, I along with the help and support of my parents, made a commitment to take a two-year correspondence coarse through Art Instruction Schools, Minnesota. I completed the coarse at age sixteen in 1996.

Now, art is even a bigger part of my life. Everywhere I look, every second of the day I see art.  I am constantly becoming more aware of new ideas and forms of art. Sometimes I have so many ideas for things to create I don’t even know where I want to begin. I am so thankful to be able to make a living doing what I love to do. I love being an artist.
